WHAT DOES THE TEST INVOLVE?
Your blood pressure will be checked manually and then the recorder’s cuff fitted to your arm. It is important that the cuff does not slip during the recording as this would cause the readings to be inaccurate, It is also particularly important that you do not move your arm during a measurement until the cuff has completely deflated; otherwise the movement may cause the measurement to be aborted.
You will also be given a Patient Diary to record the time that you go to bed and time out of bed, as well as recording any important symptoms (such as feeling lightheaded). Additionally you will be given a sheet of Patient Instructions which answers common queries patients have related to the test. You will be asked to return the monitor 24 hours after it has been fitted unless alternative arrangements have been made.
